UK top judge gives controversial opinion on Sharia law
Brunei News.Net Friday 4th July, 2008
The most senior judge in the UK, Lord Phillips has inflamed an existing controversy by saying that Muslims in Britain should be able to live according to Sharia law.
Earlier this year, the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams suggested that aspects of Sharia law should be adopted in Britain.
The archbishop's remarks had sparked a national debate and led to calls for his resignation.
Following the Archbishop's speech, both Muslim and Christian politicians expressed fears that at a time of heightened tensions, encouraging Muslims to live by their own distinct rules could make it harder for different communities to integrate.
Speaking at the East London Muslim Centre in east London, Lord Phillips has said it was not very radical for Dr Williams to argue that Sharia law can be used to help govern issues like family disputes and the sale of financial products.
He said Sharia law had suffered from a widespread misunderstanding in Britain.
He said part of the misconception was the belief that Sharia was only about mandating sanctions such as flogging, stoning, the cutting off of hands or death for those fail to comply with the law.
He said: "It is possible in this country for those who are entering into a contractual agreement to agree that the agreement shall be governed by law other than English law."
He added he could see no reason why Sharia law should not be used to settle disputes in the UK.
He said there is already scope in English law for some communities to use their own religious codes to resolve disputes.
Orthodox Jews can use the Beth Din rabbinical courts to decide on matters including divorce.
However some critics say that women marrying under Sharia law do not have the same rights as in English law, and could lead to them being treated as second class citizens in divorce settlements, custody of children and inheritance.

I want to set up an Episcopal Court in Saudi Arabia!!!! Result I’ll get flogged at least; probably worse. They do not tolerate anything Christian in their countries. I would like to see Christian nations banning Islam from our countries, period. When we can practice our religion over there, tell the to Fuck Off and go back where they came from

UK top judge gives controversial opinion on Sharia law
Countries should abolish their justice systems. They do not work anyway. If they hand down a cockamamie decision it is usually in favor of the criminal for some cockamamie rehabilitation and humanitarian reasons. Countries should issue gun permits to citizens and let tribal or the law of the jungle rule.
Then they abolish the death penalty. The death penalty is a punishment. If you commit a foul and heinous crime you must pay for it. The justice system in the world has gone “NUTS”. It is usually the victim/s or their families who suffer because the criminal has to be rehabilitated so he could contribute to society. Look judge, your lordship, your worship, your honor, that was his contribution, he killed a slew of people, and if you let him out he will kill some more. Why don’t you inject the bastard some formalin so he could be punished for the murders he did?
And you have to give a decision on another serious matter? We don’t think you are fit to give an opinion on this one.
At the least, this calls for a referendum or a constitutional change. It is democracy, right?

Sharia law in UK?
As prayer is more powerful than Satan’s pawns, I say pray — for those in the UK who believe the Islamics will keep their Sharia law to themselves, and pray for the Muslims who have cleverly infiltrated into the UK over the years.
May the True and ONLY God have mercy on them.

If I were to claim the same of Mohammad then I would be stoned to death. So what you are saying Osama is that you under Christian Law you should be stoned to death for your comment. My mistake Christians do not attest to violence, on the other hand how about Sharia Law?
So then should not the stones of death be hurled at your head with a wagging tounge? Grow up. Freedom and human rights is what our Creator had intended when He created the earth. Sharia Law does not provide for any of the above, just the opposite.
Obviously this English Nobelman is decieving himself and his fellow countrymen and selling his fellow country men out. The English have a nortorious history for this.
If Muslim people want to be ruled under Sharia Law they can go to Arabia, Egypt, Iran so on and so on and live there. They are not welcome in my country the ONE NATION UNDER GOD....The United States.
Do yourself a favor spread the word........
