Brunei News.Net Friday 18th July, 2008
Cuban President Raul Castro has announced further economic reforms.
The reforms are aimed at reducing the country's dependence on food imports as prices keep soaring worldwide.
The latest decree from President Castro decree allows private farmers to increase their land holdings to a maximum of 40 hectares.
Those who do not already hold land are entitled to buy a maximum of 13 hectares.
Cuban officials estimate that close to half the island's farmland is lying fallow.
