Malay opposition leader Anwar demands independent and professional DNA testing

Brunei News.Net
Saturday 19th July, 2008 (ANI)

Kuala Lumpur, July 19 : Leader of Opposition in the Malaysian Parliament and de facto leader of the PRK, Anwar Ibrahim, has laid down certain conditions for undertaking a DNA test in the wake of sodomy-related accusations.

According to The Star, Anwar is insisting that the DNA process is conducted independently, professionally and without interference by the police.

Anwar's lawyer R. Sivarasa was quoted as saying that Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar offer to allow Anwar to pick his own doctors to conduct the DNA test would not solve the problem, as there was the fear that the final report of the test and samples would be tampered with.

He also said that getting a court order to force Anwar to submit to DNA testing is against Malaysian law.

However, at a function in Malacca, Anwar said he was unafraid and willing to provide DNA samples but was concerned over tampering of evidence that he claimed had befallen him 10 years ago on a similar charge.

It is not very favourable to people of friendly countries to expose the Malaysian secracy. After all he has reached to that hight. Let his family live with a reputation of their head of family. It sounds not very good to listen by the other counties. If he has killed a man to whom he was involved in sodomy that will attract world but to put him in pit, that is not a story to create.

Fabrication of DNA

Dr Shahdyne, with your extensive experience in conducting DNA’s, is it easy to fabricate YOUR results or alter them in any way? If so, then I will not like to believe you also. The question is now not whether he is the offender but why is he changing his story every minute and belittling EVERYONE in the country?

Fabrication of DNA

Evidence can be tainted. The profiler does not recognise “Anwar Ibrahim” So the DNA profiling should include gender profiling. This the Chemistry Dept cannot do. So I can pick up anybody’s DNA and called it “DSAI” profil. If DSA had visited the purported scene of the crime, then finger prints should surfice. The issue here is whether a crime was indeed committed. The procedures used must be International norms and practises. So these norms and practises are all well documented under FBI CODIS and Scotland Yard’s protocols. Any departure from these constitutes frud and tainting.

No need to test DNA, lah?

Why should obtaining DNA from Anwar be an issue here?
Check with any forensic experts, they will tell, all one need to do is to match the DNA obtained from the newly acquired sample and match it against Anwar’s DNA record.
The problem here is Politicians trying to use Anwar’s refusal to give voluntary DNA sample to gain Political Mileage.
Syed Hamid Albar lied at the BBC Hardtalk. Our PM lies e.g. Petrol will not increase until August and it is not even August yet, DPM lies..
After “What the revelant ?" episodes, man-in-the-street can understand his predicament!

HAMID ALBAR

Datuk Seri Syed Albar is a major security treat if the Home Minister is so gullible as to launch a messive three-day 1,600 personnel police operation to lock down Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley causing great financial losses and inconveniencing hundreds of thousand of people based on some “rubbish” interligence and about a non-existent high-level Pakatan Rakyat leadership meeting, two speaches, tow blogs and two SMS. Hamid had promised Parliament on Tuesday to retract his allegation that DAP Secretary-General and Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, DAP National Vice-Chairman and MP for Kepong Dr Tan Seng Gikaw and I had attended a top leadership meeting of Pakatan Rakyat at the Parti keadilian Rakyak headquarters on July 9th to plot a mess demonstration in or at Parliament last Monday to justify the deployment of 1,600 police personnel to create a three day gridlock of the Federal capital and Klang Valley. Why is Hamid so conspicously silent about his promise in Parliament in the past three days? Is he still checking on whether he ahd been taken for a ride by his dishonest informers who had concocted such tall tale about a fictitious meeting fo top Pakatan Rakyat leaders on July 9th, purportedly attended by Guan Eng, Seng Giaw and myself - when it is just a pack of lies.

Malay opposition leader Anwar demands independent and professional DNA testing

The Malaysian police and the Minister Syed Hamid Albar concerning DNA profiling was only limitted to their knowledge which can be summed up as “idle curiosity” .DNA profiling must be conducted by way of Internationally acepted procedures to make it admissible in court. Thus it cannot be based on what Ministers say or offer. The reason for a DNA profiling is biological matching and nothing else. Alternatively, to match evidence from the scene of a crime to a particular offender’s profile. Is Anwar Ibrahim an offender?..this the baldy minister must answer. To condust the DNA profiling at least 13 STR loci must be done. BUT the issue is whether the loci intended has a high frequency of occurence in the Malay-Malaysian population. Thus extensive and expensive population studies must be completed before reliable estimates could be introduced into the courtroom. This baldy Minister and the Prime Minister AAB is fooling around with people’s knowledge of Biotechnology. I have conducted hudreds of DNA profiling with latest state of the art techniques like RT-PCR of prominent STR loci in junk DNA.
