The US Federal Aviation Administration has decided to keep a close eye on American Airlines after three mishaps during landings last month.

The new oversight rules came about after incidents where AA aircraft wingtips touched the ground during two landings in the US in December.

In one event, a wing touched in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The other wing-strike was in Austin, Texas.

In Jamaica, a plane overshot the runway during heavy rain on December 22nd.

FAA officials have said they will conduct a review of the mishaps to see if there might be a larger issue.
