MEXICO CITY, Mexico - Mexican police are leaving no stone unturned in the search for gunmen who mass murdered more than a dozen people at a family party on Friday night.

The shootings occurred in the city of Minatitlan in the southeastern Mexican state of Veracruz.

The death toll on the night was 13 which included a child, five women, and 7 men.

Four other people were wounded in the attack.

The motivation behind the attack remains unclear, although it is understood the gunmen were seeking a Minatitlan bar owner by the name of 'El Beky.'

"Federal and state forces have deployed a strong search and capture operation of those responsible for the events," Gutierrez Maldonado, the secretary of public security in Veracruz state, said in a tweet posted on Saturday.

Veracruz state Gov. Cuitlahuac García called authorities together for an emergency meeting to address the response.

Minatitlan is located 315 miles (507 kilometers) southeast of Mexico City.
