PM Sharif to visit UAE for Sheikh Khalifa's condolence

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Abu Dhabi Sunday to express condolences on the death of UAE ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to the Prime Minister's Office statement, the prime minister will offer his condolences to UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sharif and his key cabinet members are in London to discuss political matters and seek guidance from his elder brother, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

In a condolence message, the prime minister stated that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan laid the foundation for the UAE, and his eldest son, Sheikh Khalifa, strengthened and developed it in an exemplary manner.

The UAE president died on Friday, aged 73, after a long illness.

Pakistan has declared a three-day national mourning period, with the national flag flying at half-mast.
