KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia recorded 4,831 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the total tally to 4,724,225, according to its health ministry.
Among the newly reported infections were six new imported cases and 4,825 local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.
Another 10 deaths have been reported from the pandemic, taking the death toll to 36,066.
The ministry reported 3,362 new recoveries, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients cured and discharged to 4,642,078 in the Southeast Asian country.
Currently there are 46,081 active cases recorded in Malaysia, with 60 of them held in intensive care and 40 in need of assisted breathing.
The country reported 8,094 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday, and that 86 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 84.1 percent are fully vaccinated, 49.6 percent have received a first booster dose and 1.2 percent have received a second booster dose.
