BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is poised to build its own national astronomy observation station in five years, which aims to complement existing institutions for educational purposes, Brunei's Acting Surveyor General Siti Saihalina said.
According to the local Borneo Bulletin daily on Thursday, Saihalina outlined the achievements and future plans of the Survey Department of the Ministry of Development at the Geographic Information System (GIS) Day celebration on Wednesday.
Nor Imtihan, permanent secretary for Planning, Land Use and Environment at the Ministry of Development, urged the Survey Department to provide more efficient and systematic geospatial information and services.
Some 166 participants from all agencies attended the briefing organized by the Survey Department.
