KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia will see higher temperatures from May 14 onward as the Southwest Monsoon season rolls in, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said on Tuesday.

During this period, low humidity levels will typically result in reduced cloud formation over most areas, with fewer rainy days and more dry days across the country until September, the department's director-general, Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, said in a statement.

He also warned that during the monsoon's peak from July to September, localized and transboundary haze could occur if open burning activities are not controlled.
