Brunei launches "Cycling Every Wednesday Night" initiative to boost road safety

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has launched a "Cycling Every Wednesday Night" activity as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety in the country.

According to Brunei's Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications on Thursday, the initiative is being implemented as a pilot project to evaluate the suitability and effectiveness of designated cycling routes under a shared road concept.

The program, launched by the Brunei National Road Safety Council in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Bicycle Federation, aims to provide a safer environment for cyclists through promoting the concept of "sharing the road" with other users.

Bruneian cyclists are encouraged to make full use of the prepared routes, which have been developed through joint efforts to ensure safer and smoother traffic flow.

The "Share the Road" approach highlights the importance of mutual respect among motorists, cyclists, and other road users. Authorities believe that fostering such a culture will contribute to a safer, more orderly, and harmonious road environment across Brunei.
