BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday extended his congratulations to Erywan Yusof, second minister of foreign affairs of Brunei Darussalam, on the 42nd anniversary of the country's independence.
In his congratulatory message, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the traditional friendship between China and Brunei has grown from strength to strength, and bilateral relations have maintained sound momentum of development.
Last year, Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah paid a successful state visit to China. Chinese President Xi Jinping and the sultan reached important consensus on building a China-Brunei community with a shared future, injecting strong impetus into the development of bilateral ties, Wang said.
Wang added that he stands ready to work with Erywan, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and taking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year as an opportunity, to deepen all-round exchanges and cooperation, strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, and advance the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future to achieve more substantive progress.
