Indonesia reports stable economy, faster infrastructure development

JAKARTA, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia reported stable macroeconomic conditions supported by strong domestic consumption, while the government also stepped up infrastructure development, officials said on Friday.

At a cabinet meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said domestic consumption remained a key driver of the economy, accounting for around 54 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

Airlangga said Indonesia's foreign debt remained low at 29.9 percent of GDP, while foreign exchange reserves stood at 151.9 billion U.S. dollars, equivalent to about six months of imports.

At the same meeting, Prabowo praised the government's bridge task force for completing 218 bridges nationwide within two and a half months, saying the work reflected a quick response and the government's commitment to improving connectivity, especially in remote and disaster-affected areas.
